Driving Lessons in Stoke-on-Trent

Looking for driving lessonsStoke-on-Trent, a city in Staffordshire (often shortened to Staffs).  It is sometimes called “the Potteries”.  Mike Dawson, founder of Tristar Driving School, is based here and thinks that it is a fantastic place to teach pupils how to drive.  With it’s copious amount of housing estates and industrial estates it provides an ideal setting for the safe practice of reverse manoeuvres and the perfection of the essential skills that a young learner driver (or, indeed, any type of new learner driver) will need to their pass their driving test.

Mike tends to find that many of Tristar’s pupils attend the surrounding Staffordshire University, Stoke-on-Trent College or St. Thomas More Catholic College and tend to fit in their driving lessons around their studies.  Some pupils are already working and so fit in their driving course around their jobs.  When you speak with Mike he makes it very clear that he believes in his ‘Flexi-Intensive’ approach to driving courses and doesn’t just offer the ‘Pass-in-a-week’ style driving courses which are readily marketed by competitors of Tristar, as a “one size fits all” option..  This is because Mike believes in a balanced approach to life in general and doesn’t believe that every  pupil can assimilate the required knowledge to become a safe and well-rounded driver in just one week.  Of course it is possible but less than ideal; many pupils choose the one week option but with Tristar, pupils have the choice to opt for the flexi-intensive approach.  This is why Mike likes to offer his pupils the option to attend their driving lessons a few times per week at the maximum rather than just the option ofthe “Pass-in-a-week” approach which dictates that a pupil will learn pretty much 9 til 5 Monday until Friday until the test takes places on the Friday.

However, in keeping with their client-centred approach to learning, Tristar Instructors always listen to the pupils’ viewpoint and make decisions together.

Mike prefers a much more balanced approach to work and life.  He believes that as he imparts learning to his pupils, some will need more time than others to take on board an instructor’s teaching, and that’s why Tristar relies on the views of its pupils when making choices about the style and quantity of lessons required.
